 Брюссель - тихий европейский город, но он имеет огромное политическое значение - здесь находится штаб-квартиры Совета Министров Европейского Сообщества, НАТО, Западноевропейского Союза и многих других международных организаций. Среди туристов же особой популярностью пользуются кварталы Скарбек, Иксель и Сен-Жиль, а также старинные предместья, где каждая улица красива по-своему, а рядом со старыми площадями построены современные роскошные виллы. Сердцем Брюсселя считается площадь Гранд-Пляс, окруженная старинными домами постройки XVII века. Неподалеку от нее стоит знаменитый фонтан «Писающий мальчик» (Маннекен Пис), чье происхождение до сих пор точно неизвестно. Здесь же, в центре города, расположены и самые престижные отели Брюсселя.
