This magnificent Victorian building is the former residence of Sir William Gilbert, the writing half of the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership. The hotel and grounds have been used as a backdrop for many famous feature films and TV programmes. Of the 46 bedrooms at Grims Dyke nine luxurious rooms and suites can be found in the main house and a further 37 high quality rooms are housed in a seperate lodge, two of which have facilities for the disabled. The lodge is merely yards from the entrance to the main house and offers the same sense of peace and tranquility as it is surrounded by trees and overlooks the gardens. Facilities include Multi Satellite TV channels, Business Services include Direct Dial telephones, Typing, Copying and Faxing service. Through the great panelled doors off the grand entrance hall you will find the Library Bar. This was the library where Gilbert wrote some of his most well known works, a huge fireplace once stood in place of the bar, which still features the copper surround Gilbert had installed. This peaceful room looks out onto the croquet lawn, terrace and gardens.
