This magnificent Victorian building is the former residence of Sir William Gilbert, the writing half of the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership. The lodge is merely yards from the entrance to the main house and offers the same sense of peace and tranquility as it is surrounded by trees and overlooks the gardens. Through the great panelled doors off the grand entrance hall you will find the Library Bar. This was the library where Gilbert wrote some of his most well known works, a huge fireplace once stood in place of the bar, which still features the copper surround Gilbert had installed.
