Melenos Lindos is unique on the island of Rhodes, the terraced site of the hotel nestles within the rocky flank of the Acropolis of Lindos. Above the hotel sits the ancient temple of Athens, enclosed in a Byzantine and Medieval fortress. Below is a panorama of sea and coastline. In this spectacular setting is Melenos Lindos, which offers 21st century expectations of comfort and service combined with history. Architect Anastasia Papionaou has ingeniously laid out the 1000m2 site so that the small group of layered buildings, containing the suites and public areas, branch from a central stairway, thus creating the appearance of a village within a village. There are twelve individually designed suits, which reflect the complex history of the region and its craftsmanship in wood, stone, ceramics and paintwork. All twelve suites have variations of the raised wooden sleeping platforms built with elaborate carved woodwork. Some suites are vaulted, others have wide pointed arch supports. Many rooms have richly painted ceilings of floral, bird and geometric motifs. The shady vines and medieval style tents offer an inviting choice for a refreshing drink or a meal from the imaginative a la carte menu. In the evening, lanterns and candlelight create an intimate and romantic setting. Restaurant bookings are recommended.
