 Мельбурн - столица штата Виктория, а так же это второй по величине город в Австралии, в котором проживает ~ 15% населения всей страны. На правом берегу реки Ярра находится деловой центр города, а на левом - спальный квартал. В Мельбурне есть множество прекрасных гостиниц, в которых останавливаются туристы, приезжающие на: традиционный теннисный турнир "Australian Open" (проводится в Мельбурне в конце января); Австралийское Гран При мирового чемпионата в гонках класса Формула-1 (ежегодно проходит в феврале-марте в Мельбурне); "Australian International Airshow" - всемирно известный авиасалон (который проводится ежегодно в феврале - марте в аэропорту Авалон предместья Мельбурна - Джилонга), Кубок Мельбурна по футболу (первый вторник ноября); Фестиваль Комедии (в феврале) и невероятно шумный и живописный Мельбурнский Международный Фестиваль (в октябре).
