Our History- A forgotten and abandoned residence that we discovered one day in 2001 hidden by its abundant and invasive vegetation -love at first sight- Like all tales it was not simple. The building did not give itself up very easily- its past reappeared from under the ground. We discovered remnants from the era when Saint Paul Trois Chateaux was AUGUSTA TRICASTINORUM. Two thousand years ago under the reign of the Roman Emperor Auguste who gave his name to the village. Several months of archaeological excavations revealed the walls of a Roman villa and the remnants of an amphora which lead us to think that a Roman tavern was established here two thousand years before. A dwelling steeped in history- time passes and a middle class family move in during the 19th century and leaving behind their mark. Like a signature or a message our corridor is decorated with a fresco. The garden warped by boxwood and a cedar of more than one hundred years. Today in 2004 the property continues its life- bigger/ more modern/ yet holding on to traces of its past. This beautiful building has become Villa Augusta- a hotel for your pleasure. Located in the heart of the Drome Provencale region which stretches from Montelimar to Nyons/ from Tricastin to Baronnirs where the south begins. Perched villages with colours of light and old stone- with smells are of lavender and olive trees with an accent of the sun. At Saint Paul Trois Chateaux only three hours from Paris- you can discover the Roman cathedral while strolling through the cobbled streets of the medieval village. The surrounding villages are rare pearls- Saint Restitut/ Clansayes/ Grignan/ Montsegur sur Lauzon/ Valaurie/ Roussas/ Suze la Rousse.
