Todays guests are welcomed by Janel Martin to the Federal Colonial home built in 1804. Upon arrival you are greeted in the Foyer, notice the flying spiral staircase, one of only a few in existence. Then escorted to one of six comfortable guest rooms, to enjoy a restful sleep snuggled under a Down comforter and a handemade quilt. Enjoy an evening beverage as you cozy up to the rare beehive firplace to gaze through the windows still with their shotgun shutters to the beautiful landscape beyond. Early travelers arrived by stagecoach, where their luggage was handed up through the second floor doorway that is still visible today. The Wakefield Inn is one of 28 Historic buildings making up Wakefield Corner, which is listed on the Natonal Registry of Historic Places. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions.
