The original menagerie of the Tropical Manaus Zoo, was composed of donations made by fellow citizens of Manaus or by the IBAMA (Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renovaveis), the brazilian institute for the environment and the Renewable Natural resources, where the zoo is dully registered and also authorized to develop captive programs and to maintain captive born individuals of endangered native species.
