Why the New Hotel - Because it is the Fun Hotel. History - The New Hotel was built in 1937 and renovated in 2008 - a loving and detailed transformation of one of the original art deco small Hotels in the North Beach neighborhood where it is located. Originally called The JoAnn, the Hotel was designed by one of the renowned architects of the time, Victor Nellenbogen, famous for his other contributions in Miami Beach. The New Hotel and the North Beach District where it resides were included in the National Register of Historic Places in November 2009.
