This charming, rustic compound consists of a villa, where the owners live, and the adjacent farmhouse. Six apartments and a single house have been crafted from the recent restoration of the farmhouse and its annex buildings, all tastefully renovated with careful awareness of the history of the property. Fattoria Mansi has long been an ideal place for a relaxing holiday. Among its guests was Giaccomo Puccini, who stayed here in 1898 and composed La Tosca. Today, the grounds offer a furnished outdoor area features a swimming pool, open from May through October. The property is situated in a serene, eye-pleasing setting among the gentle green hills that divide Lucca from the Tyrrhenian coast and the thriving seaside town of Versilia. All of the apartments have satellite TV, laundry service is available on Tuesday morning, and the Internet can be accessed at the reception area. Pets are not permitted in the pool area. A cleaning fee of euro 15 and a deposit of euro 155 are required at check-in, to be paid in cash only. Hot water, heating and electricity charges are based upon usage and paid at the time of check-out. No after hours check-in is available. An ancient city encircled by a 16th-century wall, Lucca is a marvelously preserved example of Old Italy. Within the walls, palaces, churches, towers and gardens create an enchanted world all its own. From the garden atop the tower of Palazzo Guinigi, visitors can take in splendid, city-wide views.
