The Chatwal is a perfect retreat for theater goers and travelers who prefer more intimate hotels. Designed by Stanford White, this landmark building is a contemporary ode to a bygone era. Its 1930s Empire Art Deco look has been re-imagined by French designer Thierry Despont in rich, saturated hues of saffron, sepia, and ruby. Our 47 guest rooms and 29 well-appointed suites boast custom luxuries while meticulously recreating 1930s Art Deco design. In-room amenities include handmade Shifman mattresses, dressed with 400-thread-count Frette linens, down comforters, and pillows; a bed linen and pillow menu; and plush custom robes designed by Kashwere. Rooms are also outfitted with leather-lined closets and nickel accents, and bathrooms feature rain-drop showers and Asprey toiletries.
