There are many shops, cafes, bars and taverns as well as cultural attractions like the Maritime Museum.
The Central Square lies in the eastern end of the town in front of Platsani church. Continuing along the narrow passageway the view from Goulas is tremendous. At Ammoudi just below you can find taverns that serve fresh fish. The views of the sunsetting from Oia are magnificent. The town is noted for its picturesque architecture. There are two types of dwellings, the cave houses dug into the volcanic rock on the Caldera cliffs, and the Captains houses.
