The area is distinguished by its simple architecture which demonstrates a profound respect for the environment its rustic cabins and small hotels were built in total harmony with the natural beauty of the surroundings. The Town of Tulum is located alongside the state highway where businesses and social life take place. You will find stores supermarkets restaurants bars typical Mexican handcrafts phone booths shops post office craft markets bakeries and tourist information among others. All round this main avenue you can hear the language of the native people with their customs and typical costumes. The town of Tulum and the Hotel Zone are 3 km apart. To get around you can rent a bike take a taxi or choose public transportation vans or buses. Bikes are a very popular and inexpensive way to get around the Hotel Zone.
