When driving on the old highway approximately halfway between Skanderborg and Randers and not far from the small village Skjoldelev. To begin with the inn was situated in the village but the innkeeper Niels Christian Andersen - who was never called anything but Nille - thought it would be a good idea to open a small public house at the highway so that the travellers could quench their thirst. Over the years the traffic got heavier with more and more cars on the highway. Therefore Nille decided to close down the old inn in the village. Instead he obtained a license as an innkeeper and landlord in a new inn at the highway in 1954 which was of course called Nilles Inn Although this highway inn is relatively new Montra Nilles Kro has preserved quite a few of the traditions from the old village inn. One of these traditions is the Sunday offer which every Sunday consists of a new and intriguing surprise menu with three courses and accompanying wines. Generally speaking the cuisine is renowned for its small fine subtleties which complete the gastronomic experiences. The atmosphere of the inn is pleasant thanks to the kind and service minded staff. The inn is situated in beautiful and historic surroundings at Noerreris Castle Mounds with Niels Ebbesens Oak but at the same time you can reach Aarhus and thus the many possibilities of a large city within a few minutes by car.
