Tambohus Kro

Tambohus Kro has 29 nice rooms with bath and toilet. TV and wireless Internet and a view over the fjord or the wood. The inn is perfectly situated for a golf holiday - a bike holiday - fishing trips and hiking tours in North West Jutland. The nature is magnificent and there is plenty of peace and tranquillity for those who wish to wind down from the stressing everyday life. Denmarks first national park in Thy is at your disposal only a few kilometres from the inn and there is also the possibility of experiencing the Limfjord nature in the form of a 3-day kayak holiday with the inn as a starting point. Tambohus Kro is situated on the peninsula Thyholm right down to the Limfjord. You cannot find a more beautiful and peaceful site. In 1823 a young fisherman named Christen Pedersen settled down here and he was always called Chresten Tambour - the Drummer - because he had been a drummer when he served in the army. In 1830 he got permission to run the ferry to the island Jegindoe as a reward for saving a woman from drowning and 12 years later he was royally licensed to run a ferry inn named Tambohus Kro. The license was given because he had contributed to catching a gang of criminal gipsies. However a bridge has replaced the ferry to Jegindoe a long time ago. The inn has been situated here for 160 years and over the years it has been renovated and extended - without damaging the cosiness and the traditional inn atmosphere. The cuisine of the inn is famous for its fish specialities and when the inn serves its famous fish buffet in the summer people flock to the inn from large parts of North West Jutland.
