Combe House Hotel

Combe House is a stunning 18 bedroom country retreat located in the heart of the Quantock Hills Englands first Area of Outstanding Beauty. Head chef and his brigade create mouth-watering dishes using the freshest ingredients sourced locally and their award winning restaurant is open daily for lunches afternoon teas and dinners. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation and a variety of onsite facilities. There are also great walks and magnificent countryside right on the hotels doorstep. The restaurant recently refitted with specially commissioned handmade Cornish oak and walnut furniture is where breakfast and dinner are served. Though the menu has an international flavour most of the ingredients are from Somerset. Meat and game come from local farms and shoots fish from Brixham trawlers shellfish from the Bristol Channel and many of our vegetables from the organic kitchen garden within the grounds. Light lunches are served in the bar as well as on the lawn in fine weather and there is a comfortable lounge for morning and after dinner drinks. The 99 sq km Quantock Hills a place of outstanding natural beauty and a landscape of contrasts, from the many sheltered wooded valleys with sparkling streams such as the one Combe House is situated to the open moorland on the hilltops. The hills are a paradise for walkers and guests do not have to go far for a sensational view. Further a field drive through nearby Exmoor with its beautiful villages stunning countryside and picturesque Dunster with its famous Yarn Market and Dunster castle and Gardens. Take a train on the West Somerset Railway which runs steam hauled trains between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard. Go fishing in the reservoirs at Durleigh Clatworthy or Hawkridge and on Exmoor at the large and very picturesque Wimbleball reservoir where guests can also sail and picnic. There are also several golf courses nearby to suit all levels of skill.
