Le Mirador Kempinski was originally built in 1904 as Etablissement Mi??dical de Mon Repos, in essence a Spa of the times. The building was dedicated to peaceful convalescence. Its exceptional location and service along with a microclimate of mild and sunny weather, and the quality of the air made it a favorite among wealthy Swiss, French, German and British people who were in the need of rejuvenation. Maurice Ravel, the composer of Le Bolero, was one of many famous people who stayed there.
