Situated close to Port Elizabeth, in the malaria-free Eastern Cape province of South Africa, Shamwari Game Reserve is one of the largest private conservation initiatives in Southern Africa. Offering a unique nature and safari experience in over 25,000 hectares of wilderness, this Reserve is home to the coveted ?Big 5? ? lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. Six luxury lodges offer distinctively different atmospheres and provide guests with a tranquil, private environment within nature. Children?s activities are plentiful at the Reserve, including visits to the Shamwari Wildlife Hospital and Born Free Foundation Big Cat Rescue Centre. Five-star luxury accommodations are offered in 6 different lodges at Shamwari Game Reserve, each created to perfectly compliment the ideal African experience.
Bayethe Lodge
Bayethe is a splendid stone-walled and thatch-roofed lodge with a large deck area overlooking a waterhole. The 9 luxury tents are camouflaged under trees, allowing for ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts.
Bayethe Lodge Amenities
Each tent is air-conditioned and heated and has an en-suite bath, shower, private plunge pool, and viewing deck. The 3 premier tents offer the additional luxuries of a fireplace, satellite television, plunge pool, and suspended hammocks.
Riverdene Lodge
The colonial-style Riverdene Lodge, with nine interleading luxury rooms, rim flow pool, supervised playroom, spacious green lawns, and jungle gym facility, ensures entertainment for the whole family. Rooms are fully air-conditioned.
Sarili Lodge
Sarili Lodge is a new luxury lodge exclusively for families. It consists of five suites and can sleep a maximum of ten guests. The lodge features a child-friendly swimming pool, dining and lounge area, courtyard barbeque area, and special children's menu.
Eagles Crag
Eagles Crag provides the ultimate luxury for the most discerning of travelers. 9 superior rooms built to maximize the privacy of guests in the most tranquil of settings. The suites boast a private deck with pool, as well as indooor/outdoor showers.
Lobengula Lodge
Tucked away in the valley bushveld, this ethnically decorated thatched lodge offers guests a tranquil, luxurious getaway. Two of the five luxury suites have private plunge pools, while the remaining three suites are situated adjacent to the pool.
Long Lee Manor
Long Lee Manor, originally built in 1910, offers a distinctive colonial experience. This restored Edwardian Manor House offers guests comfort, service, and enticing cuisine in the African bush. Accommodates 38 guests in 15 elegant en-suite rooms.
