Hotel Ruggero II

The hotel is situated in the heart of Mazara del Vallo-an important Phoenician port. A few steps from Piazza Repubblica-you can admire this cathedral built in the XIth century, construction ordered by Ruggero II. The museum of satyr is situated close to the hotel. It was named this due to a bronze statue that was discovered in the Sicily channel. It represents a satyr-a demon who formed part of the orgiastic cortege that accompanied Dionysius. The work may be an original of the Hellenistic period dating the IVth century BC.
