Hotel Monterey Amalie

Hotel Monterey Amalie is designed to feel as if you are on board a luxurious sailboat, and indeed the hotel takes its name from the boat associated with Charlotte Amalie, a Danish queen in the 17th century. Appropriately, Kobe is a city famed for its port, hence the sailing theme of the hotel. Unusually for Japan, the hotel has thick wooden floorboards, adding to the sensation that one is stepping onto the deck of a grand old sailboat.
