Hostellerie Saint Georges Gruyeres

The 3 star Hostellerie Saint Georges is a delightful hotel in the heart of the beautiful hilltop and walled medieval village of Gruyeres. The Hotel is named after old Saint George himself who you will see slaying the dragon on the brightly colored emblem proudly displayed over the front door and again on a carving hung over an antique chest in the main hallway. Each bedroom door displays a motif from the era of Saint George. On the door of one room there is a whimsical knight with a sword raised high; on another a musician playing an instrument similar to a bagpipe while yet another has a witch like character riding a broom. All rooms offer refined comfort including embroidered bed linens; furnishings in the typical style of the region and a pleasing view of the mountains and valley or picturesque village. The more expensive rooms are spacious and lovely with stunning views across the ramparts to the mountains. If you are not able to reserve a room with a view; do not worry for you can enjoy the same view from the enclosed terrace where lunch and dinner are served. The menu naturally features local specialties made from Gruyeres cheese. Another dining room specializes in food cooked to order on the open grill. The hotel uses only fresh products from local farmers. Safe public parking is available at the entrance of Gruyeres free of charge.
