Karkonosze is the biggest and the highest massif around the Sudetes area.
The total area of Karkonosze amounts to 650 km2, 1/3 of which (around 185 km2) belongs to Polish territory. The highest peak of Karkonosze ? ?nie?ka (1603 m. above sea level) ? is the only one in Sudetes that exceeds 1600m. 15 of 21 Sudetes?s peaks that reach higher than 1400 m. are located in Karkonosze.
