Punta Cana, on the eastern coast of the country, is the main tourist area of the state. Arriving by plane, the international airport of Punta Cana is only 20 minutes away from the resort. The main charter companies provide direct flights. Other nearby airports are: the International Airport of La Romana, one and a half hours from Punta Cana, and Las Americas International Airport, 20 minutes to the east of Santo Domingo and 190 km from Punta Cana. The most important cruise companies stop over at the main port of the country, 190 km away from Punta Cana, as well as at La Romana, one and a half hours away.
