 Рим не зря называют «вечным городом». Немногие из сегодняшних столиц могут похвастаться тем, что были основаны еще в 8 веке до н. э. К началу новой эры Римская Империя превратилась в самое мощное государство своего времени. Некоторые постройки тех далеких времен до сих пор стоят там же, где и тысячи лет назад - Форум и Колизей, бывшие когда-то символом Римского могущества, и сегодня привлекают туристов, желающих ощутить дух истории. Многие из прекрасных площадей и дворцов Рима были построены в эпоху Возрождения, когда здесь творили великие мастера зодчества. Сейчас в некоторых из старинных палаццо находятся отели Рима. Рим богат архитектурными памятниками, но для всех католиков мира - это место, где находится Ватикан.
